From appearing on the failed sitcom Fat Actress  to being Jenny Craig’s spokesperson, both of which ended in disaster. The National Enquirer has been dogging Kirstie through her weight gain and recently came out with a gem of a front page article stating that Kirstie Alley only has four years to live

Thoughts from an Outsider

Image via Wikipedia I’ve been reading a lot of blogs the past few days, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America have been a major topic of discussion.  This is because the ELCA has been holding their Church-Wide Assembly this week, and the church’s response to GLBT people in various circumstances has been a huge topic of conversation.  They’ve voted on a statement on Human Sexuality (of which GLBT issues is only a small portion), a policy of allowing local congregations to minis

Carlos Whitaker on Being “That” Person

I originally posted this on February 3rd of this year, but I think it bears repeating. Carlos Whittaker: After standing in a room tonight with a hundred or so AMAZING people who all are “somebody”, I realized again… It’s not who you know…It’s Who you serve. At the end of the day it is not about getting “the deal” At the end of the day it’s not about writing “the song” At the end of the day it’s not about meeting “the man” At the end of the day it’s not about your

Warning in the Whirlwind

This past Wednesday (Aug. 19) a tornado struck downtown Minneapolis, where delegates to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are meeting for the ELCA’s 2009 Churchwide Assembly.  The National Weather Service, who predicted thunderstorms for that afternoon, were caught completely by surprise.  No severe thunderstorm warnings or tornado warnings were in effect when the whirlwind whipped through the area.  The tornado hit at around 2:00 p.m., just as delegates began debating a denominational

Blog post at US News & World Report: Does the APA advise a church switch?

Here’s the blog post over at Dan Gilgoff’s US News and World Report blog, God and Country . The backdrop: The initial article about the APA sexual orientation and therapy report to hit the wire was by David Crary at the AP.
